PM Modi’s Knesset visit : Opposition leaders in Israel staged a walkout during PM Narendra Modi’s Knesset visit. A video of which has also surfaced. Actually, this protest of the opposition was against Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu. The controversy over the Knesset Speaker’s decision not to invite President of Israel’s Supreme Court, Isaac Amit, to PM Modi’s evening speech in the Knesset. The opposition staged a walkout during Israeli PM Netanyahu’s speech.

Immediately after opposition members of the Knesset left the plenum, MPs from the old coalition took their seats to fill the vacant seats. According to Israel’s public broadcaster Kan, the Knesset speaker had earlier assured that PM Modi would not speak in an empty chamber after the opposition announced the boycott. Several opposition parties issued statements saying that they would not attend PM Benjamin Netanyahu’s speech and would return to the plenum only when PM Modi starts speaking, in order to respect the alliance between the two countries.
“We will return only for the Indian Prime Minister’s speech to honor the alliance between the countries and to express our appreciation for Prime Minister Modi’s standing with Israel,” opposition leaders Yesh Atid and Yisrael Beytenu parties said in identical statements, according to media reports. Coming back to the Knesset after boycotting Netanyahu’s speech, opposition leader Yair Lapid shook hands with PM Modi and welcomed him in the Knesset. Meanwhile, a video of the walkout is going viral on social media.

As soon as Modi’s name was called in the Israeli Parliament, the opposition there boycotted it.
