After cultural exchanges, the two leaders visited the Yad Vashem memorial on Thursday. After this a high level bilateral meeting will be held at King David Hotel. The main agenda of this meeting is to review the India-Israel strategic partnership.
Several Memorandums of Understanding (MoUs) related to defence, science and technology, trade and diplomatic sectors are expected to be signed between the two countries. After the meeting, both the Prime Ministers will also issue a joint press statement.
Eyes set on ‘Iron Dome’ and ‘Project Kusha’
The most important part of this visit is defense cooperation. India is in the final stages of acquiring Israel’s famous ‘Iron Dome’ technology. This is not just a purchase agreement but will be a core part of India’s indigenous “Mission Sudarshan Chakra” (Project KUHA).
Israel has proposed to transfer this technology to India under ‘Make in India’, so that it can be manufactured in India itself. Apart from this, India is also showing interest in Israel’s new ‘Iron Beam’ laser system, which is capable of destroying drones and small rockets at low cost. India aims to create an impenetrable national security shield by 2030. Prime Minister Modi will also meet Israeli President Isaac Herzog during his visit, which is expected to give new strength to the relations between the two countries.
