New Delhi. Mona Lisa, who made headlines during the Mahakumbh Mela, married her boyfriend Farman Khan in a temple in Thiruvananthapuram. According to reports, the couple got married in a simple function and have contacted Kerala Police for security. 18-year-old Mona Lisa, popularly known as Kumbh Mela Girl, had an inter-caste marriage with her boyfriend Farman Khan as per all customs on March 11. The wedding took place at Arumanoor Sri Nainar Dev Temple in Poovar near Thiruvananthapuram, Kerala. According to reports, Monalisa, a resident of Indore, Madhya Pradesh, and Farman, a resident of Maharashtra, met through Facebook six months ago. However, Monalisa’s father Jai Singh Bhosle strongly opposed this marriage, being from different religious communities. He is even accused of forcibly pressurizing Monalisa to marry a distant relative.

Couple demands protection from police

Recently, when Mona Lisa was shooting for her first Malayalam film ‘Nagamma’ in Poovar, her father allegedly tracked her down and tried to forcibly take her back to his hometown. After this incident, Mona Lisa and Farman sought protection at Thampanoor police station in the Kerala capital. After filing the complaint, his father was called to the police station. Police told the family that Monalisa is 18 years old, so she has the legal right to decide with whom she wants to live.

Later Mona Lisa left the station with Farman and both of them got married in a temple. Several prominent leaders of Kerala extended their support to the couple, including Education Minister of Kerala V. Sivankutty, who described the incident as a “true Kerala story”. CPI(M) state secretary M.V. Govindan and MP A.A. Rahim was also present.

At the wedding, Monalisa wore a saree studded with vermillion and red stars on her forehead, while Farman wore a traditional white shirt and mundu. Monalisa Bhosale first became a national crush overnight because of her beautiful eyes during the Mahakumbh Mela in Prayagraj in 2025. A video of Monalisa selling Rudraksha beads and pearls at the Kumbh Mela went viral. Her innocence, brown eyes and lovely smile made her a social media sensation.
