Playing for Auckland in the match against Wellington, Guptill scored 82 runs in 49 balls at a strike rate of 167.35, in which he hit 6 fours and 6 sixes.
Fast bowler Ben Sears completed his half-century by scoring 17 runs in the ninth over of the innings. On the fifth ball of this over, Guptill played an amazing shot at backward square leg, due to which the ball quickly crossed the boundary. With this he completed his half-century. After being invited to bat first, Auckland scored 215 runs at the loss of 3 wickets. In response, Wellington team was all out for 162 runs in 17.2 overs.
