He traveled in the train with his wife Anjum Khan like a normal passenger and managed to hide by wearing a mask, cap and long sleeve T-shirt to avoid detection. The all-rounder explained why he chose to travel by train, saying he was desperate to return home and meet his father, whom he credits for all his success.

Shivam Dubey said, ‘I was very anxious to meet my dad and the child. You might have heard that story about the train. This was the reason for coming home early. In my life, if I thank anyone after the above, it is my dad first. What he has done for me is very important. That’s why I came, met the child first, presented the medal to the dad. Then I got a different feeling.

Shivam Dubey showed the magic of his bat in the T20 World Cup 2026 and scored 235 runs in nine matches at a strike rate of 169. He also took 5 wickets in his name during this period. Against West Indies, Dubey hit two fours at crucial times and these fours took India closer to victory. He played an inning of 43 runs against England in the semi-finals. In the final against New Zealand, he played an innings of 26 runs in eight balls.
