Videos showing giant pythons swimming through flooded streets in Bali, Indonesia, after days of heavy rain have gone viral, startling social media users.

Bali is entering the peak of its rainy season with locals and tourists sharing multiple videos of heavy rain and flooding on social media, according The Sun.

A video circulating on social media platform X shows a large python swimming across a flooded street.

Another clip shows a local man wrestling with a large python in an attempt to move it out of muddy floodwater.

Areas in the province’s southwest, including Kuta, Legian and Seminyak, were among the hardest hit by the severe weather, with floodwaters recorded at 30-70 cm.

Denpasar and Kuta cities were placed under extreme weather alerts during the downpour, local news outlet Jakarta Globe said.

Nearly three days of relentless torrential rain pushed water levels high enough to inundate villas and submerge parked motorbikes. Main roads in several towns and villages were blocked off and many vehicles were stranded.

Authorities warned residents and tourists to steer clear of flooded areas and remain alert to the risks of landslides, flash floods and falling trees.

“Natural disasters such as severe weather, floods, landslides, earthquakes, volcanic eruptions and tsunamis occur regularly. Heavy rains can cause significant flooding in urban areas, including in Bali and the greater Jakarta region, disrupting transportation,” local officials said.

“Walking and driving in flooded areas is dangerous,” they added.

Locals and visitors were advised to monitor weather forecasts and official updates regularly.
