Funny memes on MS Dhoni After CSK vs RCB Match: Even though MS Dhoni smashed 30* runs off 16 balls, he was trolled mercilessly on Twitter by fans following CSK’s loss to RCB on Friday night at the Chepauk.
RCB recorded only their second win against CSK in Chennai in IPL history – their previous one win here against the hosts came way back in 2008 – and they consigned the Yellow Army to one of their heaviest home defeats.
On the back of captain Rajat Patidar’s 51 (32), RCB posted 196/7, with several other batsmen making crucial contributions. RCB’s new ball pacers, Josh Hazlewood and Bhuvneshwar Kumar, all but sealed off the game as CSK managed only 30/3 in the powerplay and the slide continued throughout their innings.
MS Dhoni, who smacked plenty of eye-catching shots last season, came in to bat at No. 9 against RCB, behind even R Ashwin. By the time Dhoni came to the crease, CSK’s score was 99/7 in 15.2 overs, and the result was a foregone conclusion.
He did hit three fours and two sixes to the huge roar of the crowd, but it was impossible for even the great finisher to pull things back for CSK. Eventually, his knock only helped CSK in reducing the margin of loss.
Dhoni was trolled brutally on social media for delaying his entry point. His decision to bat at No. 9, behind the likes of Jadeja and Ashwin, has been criticised, scrutinised, and questioned by the fans and experts.

CSK also were guilty of dropping three catches of Patidar, something captain Ruturaj Gaikwad cited as the key reason for their loss.
Gaikwad said, “Bad day in the fielding cost us really badly. At the end of the day, when you are chasing 170, you bat differently. You have little bit time when you go in to bat. When you’re chasing 20 runs extra on a wicket where you know it’s going to be a little bit sticky and it’s going to stop after the ball gets old, you have to bat slightly differently in the powerplay.”
The CSK skipper added, “That’s where the game changes a lot. They just kept going, we dropped catches at crucial times and then there was always an extra six or extra boundary that was coming after that. The momentum kept going and didn’t stop till the final over.”
RCB have won two in two and sit at the top of the table. CSK have one win and one loss in their account. Their next match is against Rajasthan Royals on March 30 in Guwahati.
