Vietnam exports 16,000 tons of fresh lychees to China
Vietnam has shipped over 16,000 metric tons of fresh lychees worth nearly US$11 million to China through the Kim Thanh International Border Gate No. 2 since the harvest season began.
Nearly 1,500 trucks carrying the fruit were cleared through the border gate from the start of the season through June 14, according to the Lao Cai International Border Gate Customs Team under Regional Customs Sub-Department VII.
With Bac Ninh’s lychee harvest hitting its peak on June 10, the number of trucks transporting the fruit through the border gate is expected to rise to 70-100 per day, according to a representative of the Lao Cai Economic Zone Authority.

Currently, all trucks carrying fresh lychees arriving at the border gate are directed by border guards, who are on duty around the clock, to a dedicated parking area that can accommodate about 100 vehicles.
After completing customs documentation, the trucks are moved directly to the supervision area for export clearance procedures. The procedures have been clearly publicized to help businesses prepare the required documents in advance and minimize potential bottlenecks.
The Lao Cai Economic Zone Authority had held meetings in early May to discuss traffic flow arrangements and personnel deployment, ensuring that customs procedures could begin 45-60 minutes before the border gate officially opens.
Throughout the implementation process, priority has been given to fresh agricultural products, especially fresh lychees, which are cleared in the morning to maintain their quality.
