France-based news network Euronews has listed Vietnam’s north-south railway, known as the Reunification Express, among the world’s nine most incredible rail trips.

“Spanning over 1,700 kilometers, the so-called Reunification Express offers an adventurous way to experience Vietnam, connecting Hanoi in the north to Ho Chi Minh City in the south,” Euronews noted.

The journey allows passengers to enjoy breathtaking scenery and rural landscapes, passing through coastal towns in the central region such as Hue, the former imperial capital, Da Nang City, and the ancient town of Hoi An.

“This languid rail journey is as much about the experience as the destination,” Euronews described.

“You’ll glide past misty mountains, tranquil rice paddies, and picturesque coastal towns, with ever-changing views outside your window.”

Other rail trips featured on the list include the Glacier Express in Switzerland, the Orient Express from Paris to Istanbul, the Ella to Kandy Train in Sri Lanka, the Derry/Londonderry to Coleraine route in Northern Ireland, Rovos Rail in South Africa, the Rocky Mountaineer in Canada, the TranzAlpine in New Zealand, and the Ffestiniog Railway in Wales.

In recent years, Vietnam has made significant improvements to its railway infrastructure and upgraded services to attract international tourists.

Last month, the country launched its first luxury train tour, priced at up to $8,610 per passenger. The seven-day journey takes travelers across Vietnam, offering a unique and upscale travel experience.
