Vietnam now shares the same position with Angola, Burundi, Central Africa and Liberia.
Vietnam’s passport had climbed seven spots to rank 84th globally with visa-free access to 51 destinations in the July 2025 ranking but dropped four places to 88th in September before falling to 92nd in the October ranking.
The Vietnamese passport ranked 90th last month.

“But this recovery masks a longer-term decline for both the U.S. and Britain, which jointly held first place in 2014,” said Henley & Partners.
“The past year saw both countries record their steepest annual losses in visa-free access,” the global consultancy said.
The Henley Passport Index tracks global travel freedom across 227 countries and territories, using exclusive data from the International Air Transport Association (IATA).
It ranks 199 passports based on the number of destinations their holders can enter without obtaining a visa in advance. Updated regularly throughout the year to reflect changes in visa policies, the index is widely regarded as a key measure of global mobility.
Within Southeast Asia, Vietnam ranks above Laos (87th) and Myanmar (89th).
The five weakest passports belong to Pakistan, Yemen, Iraq, Syria, and Afghanistan.
