Vigilant administration in alert mode before Holi, unique steps taken to maintain peace
Be careful: The festival of Holi is considered a symbol of colors and happiness. Even in Sambhal, Uttar Pradesh, the administration has made special preparations to conduct it in a completely peaceful manner. Taking lessons from past experiences, the authorities have taken such precautionary measures, the aim of which is to avoid any kind of dispute and maintain mutual brotherhood.
About ten mosques, including the city’s historic Shahi Jama Masjid, have been covered with big tarpaulins. This step has been taken especially for those mosques which are located on the Holi procession route. According to the administration, two separate Holi processions will pass in front of Jama Masjid. Officials said that earlier once colors had accidentally been splashed on the wall of the mosque, which had created a tense situation in the area. This time, preparations have already been made to ensure that such a situation does not arise.
additional security arrangements
Along with tarpaulin, a special coating has also been applied on the walls of mosques at some places, so that color stains do not appear permanently. Heavy police force has been deployed in sensitive areas of the city. Constant monitoring is being done through CCTV and patrolling. The administration says that their aim is not to reduce the enthusiasm of the festival, but to maintain trust and peace among all the communities. Therefore, preparations have been made keeping in mind every small and big possibility.
Decision taken with the consent of the Peace Committee
District Magistrate Rajinder Pensia made it clear that covering mosques is not a new step. This tradition has been adopted by the Municipal Council earlier also. This time too, this decision was taken with the consent of the mutawallis of the mosques in the peace committee meeting.
He said that maintaining community harmony during festivals is the primary responsibility of the administration. By talking to representatives of all religions and communities, it has been ensured that the festival of Holi is celebrated in a peaceful atmosphere. The Sambhal administration is taking full care that no communal tension or difference of opinion arises on the occasion of Holi.
