Chennai: Actor Vijay Deverakonda congratulated Suriya and the team of Karuppu after the fantasy action thriller opened to a strong response in Tamil and Telugu markets. Released in Telugu as Veerabhadrudu, the film reached theatres on May 15 after a brief delay and has reportedly received positive reactions from audiences.
Sharing his reaction on X, Vijay Deverakonda expressed happiness over the film’s reception and praised the response received by Suriya’s latest release. He also extended wishes to the film’s cast and crew.
Vijay Deverakonda praises Suriya’s success
In his social media post, Vijay Deverakonda stated that he was happy to see the strong audience response for the film in both Tamil and Telugu markets.
He remarked that hearing about packed theatres and energetic audience reactions was encouraging for cinema lovers.
The actor also congratulated director RJ Balaji and actress Trisha Krishnan while appreciating the film’s performance.
Vijay Deverakonda further noted that Suriya deserved appreciation for his efforts and dedication over the years.
Film release faced brief postponement
Karuppu was originally scheduled to release on May 14 but was postponed shortly before its release due to reported financial issues.
The makers later announced May 15 as the revised release date.
On the opening day, Trisha Krishnan, RJ Balaji and music director Sai Abhyankkar attended the first-day-first-show with fans.
They were also joined by Karthi, Suriya’s younger brother.
Karuppu blends fantasy and social themes
Directed by RJ Balaji, Karuppu revolves around underprivileged individuals seeking justice through legal channels.
The story reportedly explores a situation where the system intended to protect people becomes the source of suffering, leading to the intervention of Lord Karuppu Swamy in human form.
Apart from Suriya and Trisha Krishnan, the film also features actors including Indrans, Natty Subramaniam, Swasika Sshivada, Anagha Maaya Ravi and Supreeth Reddy in key roles.
Vijay Deverakonda busy with upcoming projects
Meanwhile, Vijay Deverakonda is working on several upcoming films.
His future projects reportedly include Rowdy Janardhana, Ranabaali alongside Rashmika Mandanna and another project with filmmaker Shouryuv.
