The ODI series between India and New Zealand is scheduled to begin on January 11, making it necessary for players to join the national team as soon as possible.

Initiative to prioritize domestic cricket

The BCCI has recently clarified that players in the national team should play domestic cricket. As a result, Rohit Sharma, Virat Kohli and other senior players are participating in the opening matches of the Vijay Hazare Trophy. Jadeja’s participation in this tournament is also considered a part of this strategy.

Jadeja’s performance in the recent ODI series

Ravindra Jadeja missed the ODI series against Australia, but makes a comeback in the three-match ODI series against South Africa. In this series, he took just one wicket in three matches and scored 56 runs in two innings. His performances have been average, so the Vijay Hazare Trophy could be a good platform for Jadeja to regain his form.
