After the end of Syed Mushtaq Ali T20 tournament, now domestic tournament of 50 over format is going to start in India. The Champions Trophy is also going to start in the next few months. In such a situation, players will try to increase their numbers by performing better in this tournament. A total of 38 teams are participating in this tournament. A total of 135 matches will be seen during this period.

Indian wicketkeeper Sanju Samson has been dropped from the squad for the upcoming Vijay Hazare Trophy, two weeks after captaining Kerala in the Syed Mushtaq Ali Trophy, after he was left out of the team's training camp. At the same time, Mumbai has also excluded Prithvi Shaw.

What will be the format of the tournament?

38 teams have been divided into five groups for the tournament. Which includes Group A, Group B, Group C, Group D and Group E. There are 8-8 teams in all groups. While Group D and E include 7-7 teams. All the matches of this tournament will be played in 50 overs ODI format.

The top two teams of the five groups will reach the knockout round. The second-placed teams will be ranked 6 to 10, while the five first-placed teams in their groups will advance directly to the quarter-finals. Teams 7–10 will play two pre-quarterfinal games to advance, while the sixth-ranked team will also advance to the quarterfinals.

All the teams for the Vijay Hazare tournament have been divided into five groups.

Group A: Haryana, Gujarat, Uttarakhand, Odisha, Jharkhand, Goa, Assam, Manipur.
group b: Rajasthan, Maharashtra, Services, Railways, Himachal Pradesh, Andhra, Meghalaya, Sikkim
group c: Karnataka, Mumbai, Hyderabad, Saurashtra, Punjab, Puducherry, Arunachal Pradesh, Nagaland.
Group D: Tamil Nadu, Vidarbha, Uttar Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Chandigarh, Jammu and Kashmir, Mizoram.
Group E: Bengal, Kerala, Tripura, Madhya Pradesh, Delhi, Baroda, Bihar.

The knockout stage of the tournament will begin on 9 January 2025 and the final will be held on 19 January. All the knockout matches of the Vijay Hazare Trophy 2024-25 season will be played in Vadodara.
