Vijay Releases TVK Candidate List for Tamil Nadu Assembly Elections
Actor and Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay announced the party’s full candidate list for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections scheduled on April 23.
Vijay confirmed that he will contest from Perambur in Chennai and Trichy East, marking his maiden electoral venture as “C Joseph Vijay.” He urged voters to support TVK on the ‘Whistle’ symbol and emphasised the party’s people-centric approach.
The candidate list includes General Secretary N Anand from T Nagar, Treasurer Venkat Ramanan from Mylapore, Aadhav Arjuna from Villivakkam, Sengottaiyan from Gopichettipalayam, Arun Raj from Tiruchengode, and J.C.D. Prabhakar from Thousand Lights. Vijay highlighted that TVK candidates come from ordinary backgrounds and are committed to integrity and responsibility rather than wealth or power.
In his speech, Vijay promised strict law and order, women’s safety, and a drug-free Tamil Nadu. He assured citizens that he would never misuse public money or act against their interests. He unveiled a youth-focused agenda, pledging collateral-free loans up to ₹20 lakh for students from Class 12 to PhD.
TVK also lodged a complaint with the Chief Election Officer, alleging that senior IAS and IPS officers aligned with the ruling DMK were obstructing their campaign events. Joint General Secretary CTR Nirmalkumar demanded the transfer of specific officers to ensure fair elections.
Vijay described the upcoming polls as a healthy democratic battle between himself and “Stalin sir,” signalling a direct contest in Tamil Nadu’s political landscape.
