Vijay Shankar IPL Retirement: Former CSK and India all-rounder Vijay Shankar has announced that he is retiring from IPL and domestic cricket to extend his playing career abroad. Shankar played for four teams in the IPL and participated in 78 matches in 10 seasons.

During this period he scored 1233 runs and took nine wickets. Shankar also played 77 first-class matches during his domestic career, scoring 4253 runs and taking 43 wickets. On Friday, May 22, Shankar released a lengthy statement explaining the reasons for his retirement. The all-rounder said that he has taken this decision to play more cricket somewhere else and get more opportunities.

Shankar’s statement read, “Cricket is my life. I started playing at the age of 10 and 25 years later, I am grateful and fortunate to have played at every level and at the highest level. Representing my country will always be one of my proudest and happiest moments. “I have decided to retire from domestic cricket and the IPL to pursue new opportunities and play more cricket.” “For allowing me to do that Thank you is not enough which I like. Will always be grateful.”

Shankar also played 12 ODIs and nine T20Is for India in his international career.
