Vijay, Trisha Krishnan Attend Wedding Reception Together Amid Actor-Politician’s Divorce Buzz

Chennai: Amid Vijay’s divorce buzz, the actor-politician and Trisha Krishnan were spotted attending the wedding reception of producer Kalpathi S. Suresh and Meenakshi Suresh’s son in Chennai on Thursday.

It is the rumoured couple’s first public appearance together since reports emerged that Vijay’s wife Sangeetha Sornalingam had filed for divorce, alleging his extra-marital affair with an actress.

The petition was reportedly filed in a family court in the Chengalpattu district last December, and is expected to come up for hearing on April 20.

According to reports, Sangeetha has accused the actor of “persistent mental cruelty, neglect and desertion” and has sought dissolution of the marriage, permanent alimony, and the right to reside in the matrimonial home.

The petition further states that she may implead another actress as a second respondent if required.

Vijay and Sangeetha had an interfaith marriage on August 25, 1999 in Chennai.

The couple have two children — son Jason Sanjay and daughter Divya Saasha.

Speculation about trouble in their marriage first surfaced in 2023 when Sangeetha was absent from some important events, including the launch of Vijay’s film ‘Varisu’.

Vijay and Trisha share a long professional association. They first shared screen space in the blockbuster ‘Ghilli’, before collaborating on films like ‘Thirupaachi’, ‘Aathi’, and ‘Kuruvi’.

After 15 years, the actors reunited on screen for Lokesh Kanagaraj’s ‘Leo’.
