Today Prime Video which Indian viewers consider their top entertainment choice announced April 17 as the global launch date for Vijay Varma’s upcoming Prime Original series Mother King while celebrating his birthday.
The series which Abhay Koranne wrote and Nagraj Popatrao Manjule directed presents a fictional narrative about a Bombay cotton trader who develops a gambling system known as Matka during the 1960s.
The series is produced by Siddharth Roy Kapur, Nagraj Popatrao Manjule, Gargi Kulkarni, Ashwini Sidwani and Ashish Aryan, under the banners of Roy Kapur Films, Aatpat and SMR Productions.
Mother King features Vijay Varma, Kritika Kamra, Sai Tamhankar, Siddharth Jadhav, Bhupendra Jadawat and Gulshan Grover in lead roles along with Vineet Kumar Singh, Bharat Jadhav, Girish Kulkarni, Jamie Lever, Kishor Kadam, Cyrus Sahukar, Arpita Sethia, Sambhaji Tangade, Ishtiyak Khan, Sanjivv Jotangia, and Simran Ashwini in pivotal roles.
The series will launch on Prime Video for viewers in India and 240 other countries and territories on April 17.
Mother King follows Brij Bhatti a sharp-minded and enterprising cotton trader played by Vijay Varma who navigates the fast-changing landscape of 1960s Bombay in pursuit of legitimacy and respect.
The ambitious idea begins to develop into an actual situation which attracts people from different social classes to participate in the project.
The series develops into an exciting story because of increasing ambitions and higher risks which mold the characters’ pursuit of power and their search for social acceptance.
