Vijay was interrogated for 6 hours at CBI headquarters, said – my party is not responsible for the accident
New Delhi: Tamil superstar and Tamilaga Vetri Kazhagam (TVK) chief Vijay on Monday appeared before the CBI for questioning in the Karur stampede case. After receiving the summons, Vijay reached Delhi on Monday morning by a chartered flight and amidst tight security arrangements, Vijay reached the CBI headquarters in Delhi at 11:29 am. According to CBI sources, during interrogation, Vijay, while presenting his side, said that his party or any official is not responsible for this accident.
On police allegations that Vijay’s delay in arrival had caused the crowd to go out of control, the superstar clarified that he had left the venue because he felt that his presence there could create more chaos and uproar. The same stance was also adopted by the TVK officials called for questioning earlier. However, the agency is matching these statements with the statements of police officials, who had claimed that the situation went out of control due to Vijay reaching the venue late.
Party leaders Aadhav Arjun and Nirmal Kumar also reached Delhi along with Vijay. CBI will now match Vijay’s statement with the statements of police officers and party officials who were interrogated earlier. On the orders of the Supreme Court, this investigation is being conducted under the supervision of former judge Ajay Rastogi, so that an impartial investigation can be ensured free from political influence. In this case, soon former ADG S. Davidson Devasirvatham is also likely to be interrogated.
This case is related to the stampede that took place in Karur, Tamil Nadu on 27 September 2025, in which 41 people died and more than 60 were injured. According to CBI sources, during interrogation, Vijay clearly said that neither his party nor any party official is responsible for this stampede. In view of the possible crowd of Vijay’s supporters, several contingents of Delhi Police and Central Armed Police Forces were deployed outside the CBI office. Earlier, CBI had interrogated many TVK officials in this case.
