In his address, Vijay laid special emphasis on economic empowerment of women, strengthening the social security structure of families and promoting education. He announced that female family heads above 60 years of age will be given financial assistance of Rs 2,500 every month. He said that this step will provide respect and economic security to elderly women, as they often play an important role in family responsibilities.

Vijay also announced the “Annapurni Super-6” scheme, under which six LPG cylinders will be provided free of cost to every family in a year. He said that this will reduce the burden of household expenses and will especially provide relief to women, because the responsibility of household work mostly falls on them.

He promised to launch “Annan Seer” scheme for the purpose of providing financial assistance at the time of marriage. Under this scheme, eight grams of gold and a silk saree will be given by the government for the marriage of eligible women. He also announced that every child born in the state will be given a gold ring by the government, which will be considered a symbol of the welfare of the family and the child. Along with this, it was also proposed to establish a separate government department to look after the interests of women, children and senior citizens.

In the field of education, he promised “Kamaraj Education Assurance Scheme”, under which incentives will be given to complete the education of children from class 1 to 12 without any interruption. If a student continues his studies, his parents or guardians will be given an assistance of Rs 15,000 every year.

Promise to provide free travel facilities to women

To ease the movement of women, a promise was also made to provide free travel facility to women in all government buses under the “Vetri Payanam” scheme. Vijay said that this will increase employment and education opportunities for women.

Regarding security, he talked about constituting 500 special security teams across the state, installing smart panic buttons in public transport and setting up “Anjalai Ammal Fast-Track Court” for speedy disposal of crimes related to women and children. Apart from this, free sanitary napkin distribution through ration shops and interest-free assistance up to Rs 5 lakh to women of self-help groups to start enterprises were also promised.
