Vijay’s Jana Nayagan is releasing before April 30: Canadian distributor
Thalapathy Vijay’s Jana Nayagan is rumoured to be not releasing before April 30. The speculations started doing rounds after the Canadian distributor served a notice to the audience in the country.
The buzz on the social media is that the movie has been pushed to Summer. Film critic Sreedhar Pillai tweeted a Canadian distributor’s note and caption it with, “#JanaNayagan likely to be pushed to Summer 2026 after TN state elections. Nothing official but Canada distributor has released a statement saying the film will not release till April 30!”
Canadian distributors note read, “Please note that the movie Jana Nayagan will not be releasing before April 30th. If you have any pending tickets and your refund has not yet been processed, kindly contact our theatres to have it arranged at the earliest.”
The note concluded, “All our loyal membership holders will receive priority booking access once the new release date is confirmed. Thank you for you patience, understanding and continued support.”
Jana Nayagan was initially scheduled for worldwide release on January 9, 2026. The movie was sent to censorship in December 2025. On January 5, 2026, the chairman had decided to refer the movie to the revising committee. KVN Productions rushed to the Madras High Court with a writ petition seeking a direction to CBFC to issue U/A 16+ certificate within 24 hours.

After hearing both the parties, the judge directed the CBFC to issue the U/A 16+ certificate. The board moved an urgent writ appeal before the first Division Bench. Though the production house went on appeal, the Supreme Court refused to interfere with the interim order.
The producers of Jana Nayagan withdrew the writ petition and opted to approach the Revising committee on February 10. It was reported that the movie would complete the censor formalities in the second week of February. The makers would release the film in theatres in the third week of the month. Now, Canadian distributor’s notice has created confusion among the viewers.
