Vinesh Phogat handed NADA notice for missing dope test

Star Indian wrestler Vinesh Phogat, is once again under the radar of the National Anti-Doping Agency (NADA).

On Wednesday, they issued an order against the wrester-turned-politician for a whereabouts failures.

The NADA stated that Vinesh was not available for a dope test on September 9 and thus committed a whereabouts failure.

They now seek an explanation from the 30-year-old Indian on the same within 14 days.

According to the regulations, all the athletes who are registered under NADA have to clarify their availability for the doping test, and anyone who fails to do so will be considered a whereabouts failure.

“You are hereby given a formal notice to notify you about apparent failure to comply with the whereabouts requirements of the ADR, and to invite you to make any comments before we come to a final decision on the matter,” the notice read.

“A Dope Control Officer (DCO) was sent to test you on that day at that time and place. However, he was unable to locate you for testing as you were not available at the given location,” the statement continued.

Vinesh, however, has drawn the curtains on her sporting career after she missed out on a medal at the Paris Olympics owing to her being overweight by 100 grams at the procedural weigh-in before her final bout.

She has now embarked on a political career and is currently contesting the Haryana assembly polls on a ticket from the Congress party.
