Vinicius Jr. Responds To The Booing He Faced From Real Madrid

Brazil and Real Madrid star Vinicius Jr has opened up for the first time about the recent booing he has received from home fans amid a recent spell of poor form, stating that the reaction from the fans disturbed him.

Saying that Vini has not been in the best form this season would be an understatement. Across all competitions, he has scored just seven and assisted 11 in 30 appearances. And while that might be a decent tally for most players, it is quite underwhelming for one of the best players in the world.

All this is compounded by the fact that the Brazilian has not scored a goal in La Liga since early October and did not score any in the UEFA Champions League until their most recent match.

Adding to all the trouble, the star player reportedly had issues with former Real Madrid manager Xabi Alonso. The former World Cup winner was brought in as the Los Blancos manager at the start of the season. While he did show some solid results, the ownership lost faith in him, resulting in his leaving the team at the start of the year.

One of the many problems Alonso had at Real Madrid was his poor relationship with certain stars, with Vinicius Jr being one of them. It seemed that Xabi had trouble integrating Vini into his system the way the player intended, resulting in his poor recent form.

And during his spell of bad form, Vinicius had to face a lot of criticism from the Madrid faithful. Certain sections of the Galacticos fans had been jeering Vini Jr in home games. Fellow Madridista Kylian Mbappe had to come out in defence of his teammate.

While this booing was mostly because of Vini’s poor form, some fans also blamed him for the departure of Xabi Alonso from the club.

However, the 25-year-old has roared back to form in Real’s most recent match, a UCL game against Monaco. The Spanish giants won the match 6-1, with Vini being the star player for the side. The superstar player scored one, assisted two, and looked like his former self on the pitch during that contest.

Following the win, Vinicius Jr addressed the criticism and jeering he has been facing from Real Madrid fans in recent games, claiming that he is human too and that he did not feel comfortable in his home stadium.

“Playing for the biggest club in the world is very complicated; the demands are extremely high. But I am human too. I don’t want to be booed in my home, where I feel very comfortable. In the last few games, I didn’t feel comfortable because every time I did something wrong, I was booed.”

“I am always in the centre of everything, and I don’t want to be there for things off the pitch. I want to be there for what I have done for this club. In-house, we need the support of our fans so that everything returns to normal. If we are together, this season will go better,” he told Movistar+.

Vinicius Jr’s return to form is excellent news for Real Madrid and manager Alvaro Arbeloa. The team currently stands second in La Liga after 20 matches, one point behind league leaders and arch-rivals Barcelona. After the win against Monaco, they are also having a great time in the Champions League, as they are second in the league table with one match to go.
