Punjab News: Violent clash between farmers and police personnel in Bathinda, Deputy Superintendent of Police's hand broken
Chandigarh: A group of farmers clashed with security personnel over the demarcation and consolidation of agricultural land in a village in Bathinda district in Punjab on Monday. In this clash, the Deputy Superintendent of Police's hand was broken and his bodyguard was injured. Police officials have given this information.
Farmers under the banner of Bharti Kisan Union (Ekta Ugrahan) reached Jeond village of Rampura after learning about the process of demarcation of agricultural land and tried to stop the officials from doing so. A large number of police personnel were deployed in the village for this process.
Meanwhile, the protesting farmers clashed with the police and Deputy Superintendent of Police Rahul Bhardwaj's hand was broken. BKU (Ekta Ugrahan) senior vice president Jhanda Singh Jethuke accused the government of playing into the hands of companies and planning to hand over ownership of agricultural land to them. He said that if the administration tries to consolidate the land, they will not allow it and will protest against the government in the village.

Jethuke said, “As soon as we got information about this, farmers were called upon to reach the spot. Clashes started between officials and farmers after tractor-trolleys of protesting farmers were confiscated. Jethuke accused the government of being “anti-farmer”. Senior Superintendent of Police Amneet Kondal said a case would be registered against the farmers for allegedly attacking the officer on duty and obstructing revenue officials in the discharge of their duties.
It is noteworthy that farmers are currently protesting on the issue of MSP. There are some farmer organizations which are not involved in the movement, but they support the farmer movement. For this reason, there is resentment among the farmers towards the police administration and the government.
