Violent protest by workers in Noida, ruckus over salary hike, dispute started with Richa Global Company

Noida, 13 April. The workers’ protest in the Phase-2 industrial area of Noida is becoming increasingly fierce. This movement suddenly turned violent on Monday, when the employees protesting outside different companies got angry and started creating ruckus. The situation went out of control, especially outside Motherson Company, where protesters pelted stones, set fire to several vehicles and completely disrupted traffic in the area. A company named Richa Global is believed to be the root of this entire controversy.

According to the information, a unit of Richa Global is located in Faridabad, Haryana, where workers were protesting for the last several days demanding salary increase. There the company management approved a salary increase of up to 35 percent, under which the salary of technical staff was increased to Rs 20,000 and the salary of non-technical staff was increased to Rs 15,000. After this decision, hundreds of workers working in four other factories of Richa Global located in Noida Phase-2 also started demanding similar salary increase.

He says that when the company has increased the salary in Faridabad unit, then why are Noida employees being discriminated against. The workers demand that here also the minimum salary of all the employees should be made Rs. 20,000. Gradually this dispute was not limited to Richa Global only, but also spread to other exporter companies and industrial units nearby. A large number of workers took to the streets, due to which work in the industrial sector was also affected.

Senior police and administration officials had reached the spot to control the protests that had been going on for the last several days. Many officials, including the Labor Commissioner, had held talks with the company management for hours. The main demands of the protesting workers are that their salary should be increased to Rs 20,000 per month. Bonus should be given in the bank account by 30th November. No employee should be removed from service unnecessarily. Overtime should be paid at double the rate, with no deductions. If every worker gets a weekly holiday, then if the work is done on Sunday then it should be paid double.

The administration claims that most of the demands of the workers have been accepted in writing and instructions have also been given to the factory owners to resolve the problems of the workers. However, workers say that they have not yet received any concrete assurance on the issue of salary increase and the company management is dilly-dallying on it. For this reason, their anger is continuously increasing and the protest is not stopping.
