It is being said that this uproar took place over the statement of Union Home Minister Amit Shah on BR Ambedkar. In the meeting of Chandigarh Municipal Corporation, councilors of Congress and Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) passed a resolution against Amit Shah and demanded his resignation. After this, BJP councilors alleged that Congress had insulted Ambedkar during Nehru's time.

During this, some councilors called Anil Masih a vote thief while Masih came to the well and said that Rahul Gandhi is also out on bail. Let us tell you that in January this year, BJP's Manoj Sonkar got 16 votes in the Chandigarh Mayor Election. Kuldeep Kumar, the joint candidate of Aam Aadmi Party and Congress, got 12 votes. Eight votes were declared invalid by Returning Officer Anil Masih.

After this election, Congress and AAP approached the Supreme Court. The bench led by Chief Justice DY Chandrachud had made sharp remarks on Anil Masih during the hearing on February 5. The Supreme Court had described what happened during the Chandigarh Mayor Election as 'murder' and 'mockery' of democracy. The court had also issued a contempt notice to Anil Masih. Anil Masih had admitted in the court that he had made a cross mark in the ballot paper. Let us tell you that Anil Masih is accused of cheating with ballot paper in Chandigarh Mayor Election. He had joined BJP only a few years ago.
