Viral Video: Team India’s jersey…bat in hand, new avatar of Sachin Tendulkar, connection with the World Cup

Sachin Tendulkar, who was India’s highest run-scorer in that tournament, shared a video of himself on social media platform X and wrote, ‘The first ball always makes the heart beat and that night it never stopped. Even after 15 years, that moment is with us. We all grew up with one dream – to win the World Cup for India. This victory was not just a trophy, but the dream come true of crores of Indians.

The 2011 ODI World Cup Final was played at the historic Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, where a high-voltage encounter took place between India and Sri Lanka.

Sri Lanka won the toss and batted first and made a strong score of 274/6 in 50 overs. In this innings, Mahela Jayawardene gave strength to the team by scoring a brilliant unbeaten 103 runs.

India’s start, however, was not good. Opener Virender Sehwag was out without opening the account. After this, Gautam Gambhir took charge of the team by playing a brilliant inning of 97 runs and laid the foundation of victory. The biggest turning point of the match came when captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni took the responsibility in his hands. He played a brilliant inning of 91 not out and formed an important partnership with Yuvraj Singh.

Ultimately Dhoni hit a six and gave India victory by 6 wickets. This shot is still counted among the most memorable moments in Indian cricket history.

This victory was also special because India had won the World Cup for the first time since 1983 and the dream of a great player like Sachin Tendulkar was also fulfilled. This is considered the biggest milestone of his career. Even today, after 15 years, that victory, that celebration and those emotions are fresh in the heart of every Indian cricket fan.
