Virat Kohli again becomes the King of ODI, returns to number 1 in ICC rankings

New Delhi:Indian cricket superstar Virat Kohli has once again proved his dominance. On the basis of consecutive brilliant innings, Kohli has achieved the first position in the latest ICC ODI batting rankings, leaving behind his own captain Rohit Sharma.

This comeback of Virat Kohli in the ICC rankings released on Wednesday is not just a statistic, but also the story of his long struggle and strong comeback. After about four and a half years, Kohli has once again emerged as the number-1 batsman of ODI cricket.

Virat becomes number 1 again after 1736 days

Virat Kohli has returned to the top of the ODI rankings after 4 years and 9 months. If seen in days, this return has happened after 1736 days. Earlier, he was number-1 till 13 April 2021, after which Pakistan’s Babar Azam snatched this position from him on 14 April.

Since then, Kohli continued to move towards the top position and now once again he has proved that he has no match in ODI cricket.

Brilliant innings gave him the crown of number-1

The reason behind this achievement of Virat Kohli is his recent brilliant innings. He scored two centuries and one half-century against South Africa. After this, his excellent inning of 93 runs played in the first ODI against New Zealand almost confirmed his number-1 ranking.

By scoring runs continuously, Kohli showed that even in big matches and difficult situations, he remains the strongest link of Team India.

ICC’s latest ODI batting rankings

According to the new ICC ODI rankings, Virat Kohli is at first place with 785 rating points. New Zealand’s Darrell Mitchell is just one point behind him at second place with 784 points.

Rohit Sharma has now slipped to third place with 775 rating points. Among Indian batsmen, Shubman Gill is at fifth position and Shreyas Iyer is at tenth position.

Kohli’s golden era continues

This achievement of Virat Kohli clearly shows that his form is at its peak. Big scores, consecutive centuries and excellent batting under pressure make him the most reliable ODI batsman in the world even today.

With this return of number-1, Kohli has once again proved that the “King” is still ruling the world of cricket.
