Virat Kohli Anchors RCB to Clinical 5-Wicket Win Over Gujarat Titans
A solid knock from Virat Kohli has set up RCB’s clinical win against the Gujarat Titans in the IPL 2026 game played on April 24 at Bengaluru.
His 81-run knock set up the side’s five-wicket victory against the Titans in Friday’s clash. By this win, they went on to 2nd position in the IPL 2026 points table.
After being invited to bat first, Sai Sudharsan and Shubman Gill opened the innings while Bhuvneshwar Kumar opened the bowling attack.
Despite a slow start, the duo posted 57 runs in the power play. However, Sai Sudharsan went on to post his fifty in the 8th over and went on to aggressive mode accerelating his innings.
In the 10th over, Gujarat Titans crossed the 100-run mark for no loss. Sai Sudharsan also achieved a major feat becoming the fastest to reach 2000 IPL runs.
The duo made a 128 run partnership for the first wicket. Suyash Sharma gave the necessary breakthrough dismissing Shubman Gill for 32 runs. He got dismissed on a googly where Gill doesn’t get the timing right as Padikkal took the catch at deep.
Jos Buttler who came to bat at No.3 joined Sudharsan where the latter smashed his first century of the season. His century came off in 57 deliveries which included 11 fours and 5 sixes.
However, he got dismissed by Josh Hazlewood in a short and quick ball which the batter mistimed for a pull as the ball flies straight to Hazlewood.
Buttler scored 25 runs off 16 deliveries before being dismissed by Bhuvneshwar Kumar. The wicketkeeper batter tried to play a reverse scoop where the ball went straight to Josh Hazlewood at short third man.
With Washington Sundar and Jason Holder at crease, RCB reduced the run flow in the death overs. Suyash Sharma who is set to bowl the final over got injured and went back to dug out.
Krunal Pandya who delivered the first ball, got a groin injury before delivering the third ball. However, he went on to delivery the final over where Jason Holder dealt with fours and sixes. By the end of 20 overs, Gujarat Titans went on to score 205 runs.
Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Josh Hazlewood and Suyash Sharma went on to bag one wicket each for RCB.

Chasing the 206 runs, Jacob Bethell and Virat Kohli opened the innings while Mohammed Siraj opened the bowling attack. Despite Virat Kohli’s missed catch, Siraj picked the wicket of Jacob Bethell for 14 runs.
Devdutt Padikkal who came to bat at No.3, went on aggressive mode while batting along with Virat Kohli. The duo went scored 58 runs in the powerplay.
After the powerplay, Devdutt Padikkal put 20-ball fifty as Virat Kohli nearing his fifty. Padikkal’s fifty included 2 fours and 6 sixes.
On the other hand, Virat Kohli slammed his 30-ball fifty which is his 66th half century in IPL. The duo posted a 117-run partnership for the second wicket putting the side on front in the chase.
Rashid Khan brought the breakthrough dismissing Devdutt Padikkal who scored 55 runs in his innings. On the other hand, Jason Holder bagged the wicket of Virat Kohli for 81 runs.
With Jitesh Sharma and Rajat Patidar’s dismissal for 10 and 8 runs by Rashid Khan and Manav Suthar respectively.
With Tim David and Krunal pandya at crease, RCB completed the chase in the 19th over. Krunal Pandya remained unbeaten with 23 runs while Tim David scored 10* runs.
Royal Challengers Bengaluru will play their next game against Delhi Capitals on April 27 at Arun Jaitley Stadium, Delhi.
