Virat Kohli fan traveled 58 km in seven hours on bicycle to see his star

HyderabadHyderabad: BhaA 15-year-old boy, a die-hard fan of India's star batsman Virat Kohli, is going viral on social media after he traveled 58 kilometers on a bicycle to watch his favorite star bat. This teenage boy reached Kanpur from Unnao to watch his star play in the ongoing second Test match between India and Bangladesh at Green Park in Kanpur on Friday, September 27, 2024.

In the viral video, the young boy revealed his name as Karthikeya and spoke about the seven-hour journey from his hometown to the stadium. He narrated how he started his journey in the dark at 4:00 am in the morning and reached the stadium at 11:00 am on the opening day of the second and final Test of the series. Asked if his parents had stopped him from coming, Karthikeya, a Class 10 student, revealed that they had allowed him to travel alone.

However, Karthikeya's wish of seeing his favorite cricketer Virat Kohli bat could not be fulfilled on the first day as India captain Rohit Sharma decided to bowl in overcast conditions after winning the toss. It is noteworthy that the last time India chose to field first in a home Test was in 2015 in Bengaluru (against South Africa). This is the second instance of a team opting to field first in 24 Tests in Kanpur, the previous one being in 1964 (against England).

The Indian team did not make any changes in its playing eleven as local player Kuldeep Yadav failed to make a place in the team. Play was stopped due to rain on the second day. Midway through the second session, play was stopped, and only 35 overs were played on Friday. At stumps, Bangladesh were at 107/3, with Mominul Haq (40*) and Mushfiqur Rahim (6*) unbeaten at the crease.
