Virat Kohli: The wait of the fans is about to end, he will make a strong comeback from the ODI series against England! BCCI’s announcement
Veteran batsman Virat Kohli can make a comeback in international cricket from the upcoming ODI series against England. According to reports, his hamstring injury is healing faster than expected.
According to a report in ‘The Times of India’, Kohli has started his rehab. He will soon report to the BCCI’s ‘Center of Excellence’ for the fitness test, where after assessing his fitness, he will be given the green signal to take the field. If everything goes as per plan, fans will once again get to see the magic of King Kohli on the England tour. Meanwhile, BCCI Secretary Devajit Saikia has also confirmed that the selection committee meeting to choose the Indian ODI team for the England tour will be held within the next three to four days.
Ajit Agarkar had already given indications
Virat Kohli is not part of the ongoing home ODI series against Afghanistan due to a hamstring injury. Yashasvi Jaiswal has been given a chance in his place in the top order. Kohli is currently recovering under the supervision of Dr. Dinshaw Pardiwala, a renowned orthopedic surgeon and BCCI consultant at Kokilaben Dhirubhai Ambani Hospital in Mumbai. When chief selector Ajit Agarkar had announced the team for the Afghanistan series earlier this month (on June 6), he had expressed the hope of Kohli’s return.
Agarkar had then said, ‘Virat got injured during the IPL final, which has been less than a week. No firm timeline has been received from the physio yet, so I can’t say anything for sure, but it looks like he can be fully fit by the ODI series against England.
How has been Virat’s recent form in ODIs?
Let us tell you that Virat Kohli has already said goodbye to T20 International and Test cricket, hence now he is representing the country only in 50 over format (ODI).
He played his last ODI match in the home series against New Zealand in January. Kohli was the highest run scorer for India in that series. He scored 240 runs at an excellent strike rate of 105.26 and a strong average of 80. If he continues this form on the England tour, it will be a huge relief for the Indian team before the upcoming busy season.
