The festival of Holi marks the beginning of spring and the harvest season. The festival is deeply rooted in Hindu mythology, symbolizing the victory of good over evil. The festival of Holi starts with the tradition of lighting fire in the form of Holika Dahan. Next day, in the main celebration of Holi, people display happiness and sociability by playing with colors.

This year the ‘Festival of Colours’ is being celebrated on two different days. While many states in Western India, including Mumbai and Gujarat, have started their Holi celebrations today, Tuesday, March 3, the main festivities in North India will be celebrated tomorrow, Wednesday, March 4.
