New Delhi, 21 January 2026: The latest ranking of ODI batsmen has been announced by the International Cricket Council (ICC), in which great news has come to the fore for Indian cricket fans. Run machine Virat Kohli is no longer the number 1 ODI batsman. New Zealand’s explosive batsman Daryl Mitchell, who performed brilliantly in the ODI series against India, has ousted Virat to the top.
Daryl Mitchell, who scored 352 runs in the ODI series against India, has got a big advantage from his aggressive batting. Daryl Mitchell has now become the world number-1 ODI batsman with 845 rating points. In the previous ranking, Mitchell was at second position with 794 points, but with the performance of the same series, his rating has increased by 51 points.
Virat Kohli has lost his number-1 position in just one week. Only last week, Virat reached the top leaving Rohit Sharma behind. There is no change in the rating points of Virat Kohli in the latest ranking. He has now slipped to second place with 795 points.
Thus, despite the rating points not decreasing, Virat lost the crown due to Mitchell’s brilliant play. According to cricket analysts, Virat Kohli will have a chance to become number-1 again in the upcoming series, but at present, Daryl Mitchell’s dominance is visible.
