'Disappointing', Kohli's old teammate raised questions on getting out in the same manner
Delhi: Indian cricket's star batsman Virat Kohli faced a difficult time in the Border-Gavaskar Trophy held in Australia, due to which concerns have increased about his Test cricket form. Despite scoring a century in the first Test of the five-match series, which India lost to take the series 1–3, Kohli could not make a major impact in the remaining matches. Kohli scored only 190 runs in nine innings and his average was 23.75.
Former Indian wicket-keeper batsman and part of RCB, Parthiv Patel expressed his disappointment over Kohli getting out in the same manner again and again. Especially Scott Boland dismissed Kohli five times, which became a cause for concern.
Parthiv Patel expressed disappointment
Partiv Patel said on Cricbuzz, “It is quite disappointing that you got out eight times in the same manner. Scott Boland got you out four times. This is shocking, especially for a player of the level that Virat Kohli is. Great players always find a way and don't let this pattern continue for long. But unfortunately, Kohli allowed it to continue.”
The problem of Kohli getting out repeatedly on outgoing balls has been a matter of concern for some time. Pointing to the decline in Kohli's Test average, Patel said, “For the last five years his average has been between 25-30. This is a very long time, and he has been out many times to balls outside the off stump. This is very shocking and disappointing.”
