During SRH’s 55-run win against RCB in the IPL 2026 match on Friday night, Virat Kohli and Travis Head were seen arguing for a while on the field. Kohli struggled, scoring 15 runs off 11 balls with two fours, before Saikh Hussain dismissed him on the second last ball of the sixth over.

The incident occurred during RCB’s chase of 256 runs at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium. When Venkatesh Iyer attacked the SRH bowlers, the cameras caught Kohli and Head arguing on the field.

What happened after all?

An angry Kohli asked Head to bowl and also made a gesture of “impact sub”, which shows that the Australian is mostly used as a specialist batsman, and SRH often brings a frontline bowler into the field in his place.

But tension remained even after the game. During the usual post-match handshake, Kohli walked past Head without making eye contact or extending his hand while he greeted other SRH players. Head waited for some time.

Still, the night belonged to SRH. Their batsmen made a big total, then the bowlers won comfortably. For RCB, despite the defeat, the main goal was accomplished: they secured the top spot in the league table, secured a place in Qualifier 1 and survived the long route to the IPL 2026 final. RCB also minimized damage to their net run-rate, ending their innings at 200/4. The result ensured that they finished above Gujarat Titans and SRH, with all three teams tied on points. Talking about the race for the playoffs, there is still a fight for the fourth and final spot with three league games left. Punjab Kings, Kolkata Knight Riders and Delhi Capitals are in the race for that last berth.
