Virat Kohli surpasses Gill, Abhishek in Orange Cap race; Bhuvneshwar Kumar dominates Purple Cap

Virat Kohli recorded his first century of the IPL 2026 to re-enter the IPL 2026 Orange Cap race on Wednesday, May 13. Kohli scored an unbeaten 105 runs off 60 balls against the Kolkata Knight Riders to lead RCB to the top of the points table in Raipur.

After scoring two back-to-back ducks in his last two innings, Virat Kohli arrived in Raipur with his best form. Chasing a tough 193-run target in a rain-hit game, the former RCB skipper produced a record-laden century and became the first Indian to reach 14,000 runs in T20 cricket.

Meanwhile, Bhuvneshwar Kumar emerged as the best bowler for RCB with a wicket of Finn Allen on Wednesday, and extended his lead in the Purple Cap.

Virat Kohli enters the IPL 2026 Orange Cap race

Virat Kohli scored 105* off 60 balls against KKR and took a big step in the Orange Cap race. The two-time Orange Cap winner boasts 484 runs in 12 innings in IPL 2026 at an average of 53.77 and a strike rate of 165.75.

Kohli surpassed the likes of Vaibhav Sooryavanshi and Shubman Gill to jump to the 3rd place in the scoring charts. He is now only 24 runs behind the leader Heinrich Klaasen, who holds the cap with 508 runs in 12 innings.

The veteran pacer is leading the charts with 22 wickets in 12 innings at an average of 16.1 and an economy rate of 7.55 so far this season.
