Virat Kohli takes spiritual route to rediscover his form for Champions Trophy and England Test series

Virat Kohli, the star Indian cricketer and former captain, recently visited Premanand Maharaj with his wife Anushka Sharma and their children, Vamika and Akaay, after returning from the 2024-25 Border-Gavaskar Trophy in Australia. In a video from the visit, Anushka was seen conversing with Maharaj, who praised Kohli for bringing joy to Indian cricket fans through his batting. He also shared a profound thought, suggesting that both success and failure are part of life, and encouraged people to maintain a positive attitude even during difficult times.

Kohli and Anushka are frequently seen attending spiritual gatherings and visiting temples, both in India and abroad, including in London. This visit occurred just after Kohli faced a challenging phase in the five-match Test series in Australia. Despite scoring a century in Perth, Kohli could only manage 190 runs across nine innings at an average of 23.75. This followed a modest performance of 93 runs in the recent home Test series against New Zealand.

Interestingly, Kohli had previously dismissed the idea of being spiritually inclined. In a candid moment during the 2016 T20 World Cup, he humorously remarked, “Do I look the pooja-path types?” Virat Kohli explained that in the early days of his career, he was often criticized for his appearance and lifestyle, with labels like “the tattoo guy” or someone too focused on fashion. He stressed that instead of dwelling on negative perceptions, he chose to focus on his growth as a cricketer. “I make sure I do all the hard work and hope it pays off one day,” he said, underlining his dedication and constant desire to improve.

Kohli’s spiritual journey took a turn after his marriage to Anushka Sharma in December 2017, which marked a new chapter in his life and personal growth beyond the cricket field.
