Virat Kohli’s former RCB teammate talks about Much-Hyped return to cricket
Cricketing legend, AB de Villiers has shared his desire to participate in competitive cricket. However, he has ruled out a comeback in the sport.
The legend in world cricket, AB de Villiers, has expressed his desire to enjoy the thrill of playing cricket once again, and has hinted a possible return to competitive participation. However, in order to avoid his supporters from having false hopes, he has ruled out a comeback to professional cricket.
The great cricket player has stated that he had no intention of playing in Indian Premier League (IPL) for Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) or the SA20.
De Villiers has been excited to play cricket because of his recent outings of training sessions with his kids, who have been putting pressure on him. De Villiers has not played professional cricket since 2021 IPL season, which was his final time in cricket with RCB. The last time he played for his country was in 2018, and in November 2021, he declared his retirement from all forms of cricket.
“I might still play cricket one day. No confirmation whatsoever, but I am starting to feel it. My kids are putting me under a bit of pressure, and I feel like I could go to the nets with them. If I enjoy it, maybe I will walk out and play a little bit of casual cricket somewhere again—nothing professional like the IPL or South African tours,” said AB de Villiers.
“Who knows? But we’ll see. I am going to try it again and see if this eye is still working. It’s a bit blurry, but this (the right one) is the dominant one, and it’s working fine. So, I’m doing it for my kids, and I am going to see if I can go out there and enjoy cricket again. Nothing serious, though. We’re not talking about RCB and the big stuff. I don’t want to feel that pressure again. That’s the thing. So, wherever I go, I will have a bit of fun,” he added.
De Villiers openly expressed his desire to become a coach and had even previously hinted to a possible association with RCB, which has not yet come to pass. De Villiers is currently a brand ambassador for the third season of SA20. He has also been spending time with his loved ones.
