As the New Year celebrations are going on across the world, Indian star batter and cricket legend Virat Kohli also made his contribution with a viral social media post that set the internet ablaze with likes and comments.
The Instagram post was based on a picture with his wife, the famous Bollywood actress Anushka Sharma, saying, “Stepping into 2026 with the light of my life @anushkasharma.”
The viral Instagram post garnered around 4 million likes in less than an hour. Hundreds and thousands of comments poured from fans wishing “Virushka” a new year as they stepped foot into 2026.
The post comes at a time when “King Kohli” is already in the limelight due to his groundbreaking performance, becoming the fastest player to reach 16,000 List A runs.
Chiku broke Sachin Tendulkar’s record, who achieved this milestone in 391 innings but Kohl did it in 330th. He only needs 25 to become the fastest player in international cricket to secure 28,000 runs.
This stellar run rate was achieved during the Vijay Hazare Trophy and in the ODI series against South Africa.
According to a BCCI source ODI squad for the series against New Zealand is assembling in Vadodara and Kohli is expected to arrive a day earlier. The series is going to begin on January 11, 2026.
