A video captured during India’s first ODI against New Zealand has gone viral, offering a rare glimpse into Virat Kohli’s pre-batting routine.
In the footage, the star batter is seen applying lotion, spraying perfume and taking a quick bite before heading to the crease.
In the same match, the “Chase Master” fell just 7 short of his 54th ODI century, scoring a brilliant 93 off 91 deliveries. His contribution was pivotal as India successfully chased the target of 301 and took their first lead in the series against New Zealand.
This significant innings played by “Chiku” made him the fastest player to reach 28,000 international runs across all formats. He also became the second-highest run-scorer in international cricket after Sachin Tendulkar.
While speaking to the media, Kohli reflected on his career, saying, “If I look back at my whole journey, then it is nothing short of a dream-come-true for me.”
After being named the Player of the Match in Vadodara, he added:
“I have always known my abilities but I also knew I had to work extremely hard to get where I am today. God has blessed me with far more than I could even ask for. I look back at my journey with a lot of grace and gratitude and I feel really proud of it.”
The second ODI against New Zealand is scheduled on Wednesday at Niranjan Shah Stadium in Rajkot.
