Sehwag encouraged his son
Sehwag congratulated his son in a funny manner on this brilliant performance. He wrote on social media platform X, “Well done @aaryavirsehwag! 23 runs remained away from Ferrari. But well played, keep the fire burning and keep scoring lots of daddy hundreds, doubles and triples. Go play.”
It is noteworthy that Sehwag had promised in 2015 that if his children broke his Test record (319 runs), he would gift them a Ferrari.
Sehwag is the first Indian to touch the 300 mark in Test cricket, he scored 309 runs against Pakistan in 2004 and 319 runs against South Africa in 2008.
Aryaveer and his fellow opener Arnav Bugga added 180 runs for the first wicket. After Arnav was out, Aryaveer made a partnership of 246 runs with Dhanya Nakra. However, Aryaveer remained just one boundary away from 300 runs and became the victim of RS Rathore in the 107th over. After this Delhi declared its innings at 623/5 and got a big lead against Meghalaya.
