Visibility reduced due to severe fog in New Delhi and Northern India; IGI Airport SpiceJet passengers advised:
The capital city of New Delhi and other parts of Northern India are experiencing their first spell of winter with plummeting temperatures and dense fog. The poor visibility has disrupted travel and other outdoor activities.
The extreme fog and low temperatures are already pairing with poor air quality in Delhi, making the situation even more dire for those with respiratory issues.
Air travel conditions are already being disrupted. Users of Delhi’s IGI airport are being advised to contact their airlines to ensure flights are still conducting travel. Even if travel is still being conducted, travel may be impacted in both the departure and arrival locations of flights.
SpiceJet is the latest low-cost airline in India and is urging passengers to be patient when faced with travel delays. Most flights in New Delhi and Northern India are expected to be delayed due to low visibility in other parts of Northern India as well.
Several travellers received messages from Spicejet airlines stating, “#TravelAdvisory (Dec 24 2025) – SpiceJet is anticipating delays & cancellations due to weather (high fog) in Delhi (DEL), Amritsar (ATQ), Jammu (IXJ), Ayodhya (AYJ), Gorakhpur (GOP), Varanasi (VNS), Darbhanga (DBR), Patna (PAT), Guwahati (GAU) and Bagdogra (IXB) for all arrivals/departures and connections Flights. We kindly ask that you verify your flight status via our website, “
On Tuesday, Delhi International Airport’s (DIAL) visibility of less than 200 metres due to fog led to 10 flight cancellations (about 277 additional flights were delayed) due to air traffic control (ATC) regulations throughout the day.
The visibility situation is such that the fog covers areas of Delhi and Uttar Pradesh and Punjab. According to the IMD, from today and for the next coming days, the nationals of the northern states will be in need of very dense fog warnings until 27th December.
