Why don’t marriages take place on the day of Vivah Panchami?
Vivah Panchami is an auspicious day and there are many auspicious times on this day. But, still parents do not get their daughters married on this date. It is said that on this day, even if the position of the planets and stars are good and there are auspicious times, one should not marry. Because, the day of Vivah Panchami is considered inauspicious for Hindu marriages.
In fact, it is believed that the marriage of Lord Ram and Mother Sita took place on this date. In Hindu religion, Ram and Sita are known as the ideal husband and wife and the elders also bless the beautiful newly married couple by describing them as Ram and Sita. But it cannot be denied that the married life of Ramji and Mother Sita was very painful.
After marriage, Lord Ram and Sita ji had to face many difficulties. After marriage, Ram ji and Mother Sita spent 14 years in exile. Mother Sita was also kidnapped by Ravana during her exile.
When Lord Ram brought Mother Sita from Lanka, she had to undergo the ordeal.
Not only this, Lord Ram had also abandoned pregnant Sita ji and Sita ji gave birth to both sons Luv and Kush in an ashram and her entire life ahead was spent in the forest with her sons.
Keeping these reasons in mind, parents do not get their daughters married on Vivah Panchami. It is believed that by getting married on this day, the married life of the girl can also remain painful like that of Ram and Sita ji. But the day of Vivah Panchami is considered very auspicious for worship, fasting and remedies.
