Vivo S20 & S20 Pro: Retaining the Essence, Elevating the Experience
With the successful launch of the Vivo S19 models in May of this year, the company has unveiled its successor, the Vivo S20 and Vivo S20 Pro released just today in China. One key thing that we can first observe is that the Vivo S20 models have not changed their design a lot from their previous models.
Design and Aesthetics
One of these similarities comes from the placement of the camera modules and button configuration mirrors the design of the S19, continuing the design philosophy. The ultra-narrow bezels and refined finishes are also something that we would see in the previous model.
Performance and Hardware
Another place where we can see some similarities is with the performance as the Vivo S20 shares the same Snapdragon 7 Gen 3 chipset that Vivo S19 did. However, in the case of Vivo S20 Pro, the chipset will be quite different as this will carry a more powerful and advanced MediaTek Dimensity 9300+ chipset; an evident upgrade to the S19’s Dimensity 9200+.
Display Quality and Battery
The Vivo S20 models also come with a 6.67 inch AMOLED display, with a resolution of 1260×2800 pixels, and a refresh rate of 120hz. The S20 also features a flat screen, while the S20 Pro comes with a quad-curved display for better visual quality. The vanilla S20 comes with a 6,500mAh battery with 80W fast charging, while the Pro model has a 5,500mAh battery with 90W fast charging.
Camera Enhancements
The Vivo S20 series significantly enhances its camera setup compared to its predecessor, the S19, while maintaining some key features. The primary camera continues with the high-quality 50MP Sony IMX921 sensor with CIPA 4.5-level image stabilization. However, the ultrawide camera sees a major upgrade from an 8MP sensor to a 50MP Samsung JN1 sensor, greatly improving resolution and detail. Additionally, the S20 introduces a 50MP Sony IMX882 telephoto camera with CIPA 4.5-level stabilization, 3x optical zoom, and macro capabilities. The front camera remains impressive with a 50MP sensor, ensuring excellent selfie quality and video calls, thus maintaining the high standards set by the S19.
Colour Choices
The new vanilla S20 model comes in three colorsPine Smoke Ink (Black), Jade Dew White (Marble White), and Pheonix Feather Gold (White background with gold feather design), while the S20 Pro comes with the previous two coduring Phoenix Feather Gold, Pine Smoke Ink colors and a new Purple Air finish.

The pricing for the Vivo S20 Pro is varied depending on the RAM and Memory Space, starting with: ¥3399 (₹39,632) for the 12GB + 256GB variant, ¥3799 (₹44,296) for the 12GB + 512GB variant, and ¥3999 (₹46,628) for the 16GB + 512GB variant.
