Electric Car: Volkswagen ID.Polo compact EV launched; Know price, features and range
VW Polo Electric: There is big news for Volkswagen Polo fans. The company has introduced the electric incarnation of its popular hatchback, New VW Polo Electric, which will be known as ID.Polo. This compact electric car is based on the MEB+ platform and deliveries are expected to begin in Europe by the end of 2026. Its starting price has been kept at 25,000 Euro (about Rs 28 lakh), while no official announcement has been made yet regarding its launch in India.
Design
The design of the new VW Polo Electric is modern and sporty. It has sleek headlamps, illuminated VW logo and closed-off grille. Top-mounted DRLs, blacked-out ORVMs, side skirts and dual-tone alloy wheels give it a premium look. At the rear, connected taillamps and illuminated ‘Polo’ badging are provided, which gives it a futuristic appeal.
interior and space
The cabin of the car is based on simple and user-friendly design. It has a retro display mode with a 10-inch digital instrument cluster. Physical buttons are also provided for climate control and audio. Boot space is 441 litres, which can be expanded to 1,243 liters when the seats are folded. Features like panoramic glass roof and massage seats are optional.
Features and safety
The VW Polo Electric gets a 13-inch touchscreen infotainment system, which supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Apart from this, features like wireless charging, dual-zone climate control and V2L function are also provided. For safety, features like lane assist, adaptive cruise control, side assist and rear camera are available.
Battery and range
This car will come with two battery options—37 kWh and 52 kWh. The 52 kWh battery offers a range of up to 455 km (WLTP), while the base variant has a range of around 329 km. Through DC fast charging, it can be charged from 10 to 80 percent in about 24-27 minutes.
Overall, the VW Polo Electric is a stylish, feature-loaded and long range EV, which can prove to be a great option for city use.
