Volkswagen Is Offering Up to Rs 4.5 Lakh Off in April. But the Best Deals Come with a Catch

Volkswagen has released its April 2026 discount structure under the Customer Benefit Program, and the headline number is Rs 4.5 lakh off on the Tiguan R-Line. That is the largest single-model discount the brand has offered in the past 12 months. Across the portfolio, the pattern is consistent: older 2025 VIN stock carries far larger discounts than the freshly built 2026 stock, and buyers who can accept an older production year walk away with significantly better deals.

The Tiguan R-Line is the standout. It gets a flat Rs 3.5 lakh cash discount, Rs 50,000 exchange bonus, and Rs 50,000 loyalty bonus, bringing the total benefit to Rs 4.5 lakh. The Tiguan R-Line is priced at approximately Rs 49.99 lakh ex-showroom. Rs 4.5 lakh off represents a discount of about 9 percent on that price, which is unusual for a near-Rs 50 lakh European SUV.

There is no distinction between VIN 25 and VIN 26 stock on the Tiguan; the full Rs 3.5 lakh cash applies regardless of when it was built. That means the effective ex-showroom value drops to about Rs 45.49 lakh before registration, insurance and other on-road costs are added. In this segment, that is a meaningful repositioning rather than a token dealer offer.

volkswagen taigun pre facelift model

The Taigun has the most complex discount matrix of the three models, but the most rewarding deal for buyers who look carefully. The Topline MT in VIN 25 spec gets Rs 2.5 lakh in combined cash and liquidation support, Rs 30,000 exchange, and Rs 20,000 loyalty, totalling Rs 3 lakh. That is on a car priced at around Rs 17 lakh ex-showroom in Topline form, which makes the effective post-discount pricing competitive with the mid-spec Creta and Seltos.

The newer VIN 26 Taigun tells a different story. There is zero cash discount on the Comfortline, Highline, and Topline VIN 26 variants, with only exchange and loyalty bonuses applying. A VIN 26 Taigun Topline buyer takes home Rs 50,000 in total benefits instead of Rs 3 lakh. That gap between MY25 and MY26 is large enough that asking a dealer which production batch is in stock should be the first thing you do before any other conversation. Put simply, the old-stock Topline package is six times richer than the newer one. That is the kind of difference that can swing a monthly EMI, insurance bill or the final on-road decision.

The entry-level special is worth noting. The Taigun 1.0 TSI Comfortline MT in VIN 25 trim is available at a special offer price of Rs 10.61 lakh. Against the current Comfortline ex-showroom level of roughly Rs 11.4 lakh, that means the effective cut is in the region of Rs 80,000. For a Volkswagen-badged compact SUV, that pushes the entry point closer to the upper end of premium hatchback money rather than typical midsize SUV money.

volkswagen virtus gt

The Virtus does not need as deep a cut to move. The Topline MT in VIN 25 configuration gets Rs 75,000 cash support, Rs 30,000 exchange, and Rs 20,000 loyalty for a total of Rs 1.25 lakh. The VIN 26 Topline AT gets Rs 50,000 cash plus the same exchange and loyalty bonuses. The GT Plus DSG variants in both the Sport and Chrome editions get no cash support at all, only the standard Rs 30,000 exchange and Rs 20,000 loyalty. If the 1.5 TSI performance variant is your target, the April discounts do not add much to the case.

That spread also says something about demand. A VIN 25 Virtus Topline MT gets total benefits that are 150 percent higher than the standard Rs 50,000 support available on cash-less GT Plus variants. Volkswagen is effectively signalling that the mainstream Virtus trims still need promotional help, but the enthusiast-led 1.5 TSI versions are moving without needing heavy support. In discount language, zero cash support usually means the company does not feel pressure to sweeten the deal.

The offers are valid for bookings reported between April 1 and April 30, with deliveries to be completed by May 31. You can take either the exchange bonus or the scrappage bonus, not both. The loyalty bonus of Rs 20,000 applies only to existing VW customers who have owned their vehicle for four or more years. If you are a first-time VW buyer, loyalty benefits do not apply and your total savings will be lower than the headline figures.
