Volkswagen Taigun Facelift With New Headlamp Spotted Testing [Video]

Skoda unveiled the updated Kushaq for the Indian market a couple of months ago. A detailed drive review of the same will be shared on our social media channels in the coming days. After the Skoda Kushaq, Volkswagen will also be launching the updated version of its popular SUV, the Taigun, in the market. The Taigun facelift has been spotted testing on multiple occasions, and we even have an idea of what the final product might look like. We now have a new video where we get a clear look at the new headlamps on the Taigun facelift.

The video has been shared by Rushlane on their Instagram page. The car was spotted in Pune, and the test mule seen here is actually not the India-spec version. As seen in the video, there is a sticker that reveals it is a left-hand-drive vehicle meant for export markets.

The Taigun is a made-in-India SUV, but it is exported to other markets as well. However, the SUV seen here is likely to be very similar to the version we will get in India. The video starts with the rear of the vehicle. We see heavy camouflage on the tail lamp area of the SUV, which suggests that the tail lamps will receive design revisions. The rear is expected to get an illuminated connecting LED bar that will enhance the width of the vehicle.

Apart from that, we also notice that the SUV gets disc brakes at the rear. This indicates that the SUV seen here is probably the GT version, which is powered by the 1.5-litre TSI engine. Even in the Kushaq, Skoda made rear disc brakes standard with the bigger engine variants.

The video then shows the front of the vehicle. The headlamps on the Taigun are where the major differences are visible. We see sleeker-looking headlamps, which appear similar to those seen on the Tayron and Tiguan in the past.

The grille portion on the test mule is completely covered. The SUV is expected to come with a connecting LED bar at the front, with the Volkswagen logo in the centre. The bumper gets gloss black elements and looks muscular, with a large air dam. The alloy wheel design on this test mule appears to be the same as the current version, but we expect it to change in the final production model.

On the inside, the Volkswagen Taigun will come with a similar touchscreen infotainment system as the current version. It may get a larger instrument cluster, as seen in the Kushaq. Apart from this, leatherette upholstery, seat ventilation, electrically adjustable seats, rear seats with a massage function, and a panoramic sunroof are some of the other features the SUV is expected to offer.

The Taigun facelift will be powered by the same 1.0-litre TSI and 1.5-litre TSI petrol engine options. The 1.5 TSI will get a 7-speed DSG as standard, while the 1.0-litre TSI engine (a three-cylinder unit) will come with a 6-speed manual and a new 8-speed automatic transmission.

The Volkswagen Taigun facelift seen here looks almost production-ready, and we expect it to be launched in the market in the coming months.
