Voting for House of Representatives members begins in Nepal, enthusiasm seen in border districts
Busted News Bureau Maharajganj :: Voting started across the country from Thursday morning as part of the election for House of Representatives members in Nepal. A lot of enthusiasm is being seen among the voters in Rupandehi, West Nawalparasi and Kapilvastu districts bordering India-Nepal border. Long queues of voters were seen at various polling stations since morning and people were seen participating enthusiastically in this festival of democracy.

Chief Electoral Officer of Rupandehi Ashok Kumar Basnet He said that the voting started at the scheduled time of 7 am in a peaceful and orderly manner. Better arrangements for security and management have been made at the polling stations, due to which voters are exercising their franchise without any hassle. He said that the voting process is being completed within one to two minutes after receiving the ballot paper.
Chief Electoral Officer Basnet has appealed to all voters, political parties and candidates to cooperate in conducting peaceful and enthusiastic voting. He told that after the voting is over, the counting of ballot boxes will be started after collecting them. Efforts are being made to make the results of direct elections public within 24 hours of the start of counting.
In view of the active participation of youth, this time it is estimated that more than 65 percent voting will take place in the district. Elections are being held on five seats in Rupandehi district, two in West Nawalparasi and three in Kapilvastu.
Voting is being conducted at a total of 736 polling stations in Rupandehi district. To conduct the elections peacefully, 4,404 employees have been deployed, while 2,203 volunteers are also engaged in cooperation. In view of the security arrangements, three-tier security system of Nepalese Army, Nepal Sentinel and Armed Sentinel Force has been implemented.

A total of 155 candidates, including 63 from different political parties and 92 independent candidates, are in the fray in the five constituencies of the district. There are a total of 7,72,523 voters in Rupandehi, which include 3,46,203 males, 3,26,311 females and nine other voters.
Voting is going on peacefully in West Nawalparasi district also. Here, 297 polling stations have been set up under 122 polling stations. A total of 54 candidates are in the fray in the two constituencies of the district. 27 candidates from area number one and 29 candidates from area number two are trying their luck. Among them, Vinod Chaudhary, one of Nepal’s leading industrialists, and senior leader Hridayesh Kumar Tripathi are also among the prominent candidates.
