WagonR’s entry with flex-fuel technology; Price 7.24 lakh rupees
Expanding its portfolio of alternative fuel vehicles, Maruti Suzuki has introduced a new ‘Bioflex’ version of the popular WagonR. This model is specially developed to run on high ethanol-blended fuel. Right now it is only made available for business customers and commercial use.
The new WagonR Bioflex is based on the top-spec ZXi+ variant of the WagonR. In terms of exterior design, this model looks similar to the regular WagonR. Its tall ‘tall-boy’ design, sleek looks and spacious cabin have been retained. However, special Bioflex badging and flex-fuel graphics have been given on the car to identify the Bioflex.

The interior too has all the major amenities of the top variant. These include dual-tone interiors, fabric seats, multifunction steering wheel and a 7-inch touchscreen infotainment system. The system supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay connectivity. Other features like six airbags, electronic stability control (ESC), rear parking sensors, front fog lamps, rear AC vents and a four-speaker audio system are also available.
The WagonR Bioflex is powered by a 1.2-litre K-series four-cylinder petrol engine. This engine has been modified to run on higher ethanol content fuel. For this, the fuel injectors, fuel pump and fuel lines have been modified. It also has a special sensor that detects the amount of ethanol and improved engine management software.

The company has not yet released the official information about the power and torque of this model. However, the standard 1.2-litre WagonR engine produces 91 hp of power and 114 Nm of torque.
The new WagonR Bioflex is priced at Rs 7.24 lakh ex-showroom. The price is about Rs 86,000 more than the regular WagonR ZXi+ manual. This model is priced higher due to engineering changes made for ethanol-compatible technology.
