Sonam Wangchuk ready to break her fast, wrote a conditional letter to the government from the hospital
Today is the 25th day of Sonam Wangchuk’s fast. Sonam Wangchuk from Medanta Hospital has written a letter to the government with demands to end the fast. He has said through letters to Union Ministers JP Nadda and Jitendra Singh that I am ready to end my hunger strike if the government accepts some of my conditions. Sonam Wangchuk has currently refused to end her fast.
Wangchuk was shifted from Safdarjung in Delhi to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram late on Tuesday night. It was here that both the Union Ministers met him and appealed to break the fast.
Sonam Wangchuk has written a letter to the government today, Wednesday, saying that she will not end her hunger strike until a written guarantee is given that no legal action will be taken against the protesting students and also the resignation of the Education Minister and compensation amount is not given to the families of the students who died after the paper leak.
He further said that there should be a debate in the Parliament and the resignation of the Education Minister should be taken. Sonam Wangchuk said that if all these conditions are accepted by me then I am ready to break my own.
Through this letter, Wangchuk has also thanked Union Ministers JP Nadda and Dr. Jitendra Singh for coming to the hospital. Sonam Wangchuk wrote, “During the discussion you had assured me that the government would consider positively.
He said that the ‘Chalo Sansad’ march was peaceful, but expressed concern over the police action. He made it clear that he will end his hunger strike only after receiving concrete assurance from the government, otherwise his strike will continue indefinitely.
